School of Arts and Humanities Summer Research Internship

3 July - 11 August 2023

Overview

The Arts and Humanities Research Internship is a six-week, paid, summer research internship programme for students whose socioeconomic background or other life circumstances may have made it more difficult for them to reach their full educational potential, or to consider undertaking postgraduate study and research.

Cambridge University’s School of Arts and Humanities is committed to widening participation in postgraduate studies. The University will be using positive action under the Equality Act 2010, where appropriate, to tackle the underrepresentation of certain groups in postgraduate study within the School. See our eligibility criteria for more details.

The Arts and Humanities Research Internship is open to UK and Republic of Ireland residents who are studying at a UK or Republic of Ireland university for their undergraduate degree and are in their penultimate year of study, and who have the potential to become the future of research in the arts and humanities.

As an A&H intern, you will be given the opportunity to conduct your own summer research project together with academics in Cambridge.  The Arts and Humanities Research Internship is designed to offer everyone who takes part tangible benefits in terms of confidence, skills and experience that will enhance both their CV and any future postgraduate applications. At the end of your internship, you will have the opportunity to present your work in a mini-conference. During the research internship, you will live in college accommodation and social activities will introduce you to our community.

Up to 4 funded internships are available for summer 2023.

Application Process

The application consists of a single online form (https://cambridge.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3s0RMPdpMk3iANU), which requires you to upload a recent copy of your CV, university transcript, a research proposal for your topic of interest (instructions are available in the applicant guidelines) and nominating an academic referee to support your application. If you use the same device and browser, you should be able to return to the form at a later point if you cannot complete it in a single sitting.

Your application must be completed and submitted by the application deadline of 9am, Tuesday 2 May 2023. Full instructions, as well as further details of the criteria by which successful candidates will be selected, are offered in the applicant guidelines, which we strongly recommend you read before applying.

If shortlisted, you will be invited to a short, online interview currently planned to take place the weeks beginning 8 and 15 May 2023 with the supervisors to further explore your application and proposed project.
