Maximising Funding Opportunities for Outstanding Postgraduate Students

The School of Arts and Humanities (SAH) is committed to helping exceptional students access postgraduate study through a coordinated approach to studentship funding. The School brings together funding from a range of partners to maximise the number of fully funded opportunities available for both MPhil and PhD applicants.

Rather than considering individual funding schemes in isolation, SAH works across the School and with our funding partners to create the strongest possible portfolio of studentships. This approach enables us to make the most effective use of available funding and support a broader range of outstanding students.

How the Process Works

Applicants submitting their applications by the course funding deadlines are automatically being considered for funding, there is no need to submit any additional funding application. Applications are initially assessed by Faculties and Departments, which identify and rank their strongest candidates. SAH then considers applicants across the School alongside available funding opportunities, funding conditions and institutional priorities.

Working collaboratively with our partners, we develop funding packages that align exceptional candidates with suitable studentship opportunities. This approach helps maximise the number of funded places available and ensures that funding is allocated fairly and strategically across disciplines.
